That 'loadxml.test' failure was actually about our testing system, not the code. Firstly we need a new mysqltest command, wich i called 'send_eval'. So the expression can be evaluated, then started in a parallel thread. We only have separane 'send' and 'eval' commands at the moment. Then we need to add the waiting code after the 'KILL' to our test, so the thread will be killed before the test goes further. Another problem was that mysqltest lacked support for named pipe and shared memory connections, which lead to misleading test cases that were supposed run common queries over both transports. The solution is to properly implement, at the VIO layer, the poll and is_connected methods. The is_connected method is implemented for every suppported transport and the poll one only where it makes sense. Furthermore, support for named pipe and shared memory connections is added to mysqltest as to enable testing of both transports using the test suite. client/mysqltest.cc: Add support for named pipe and shared memory connections. include/violite.h: Move private functions to vio/vio_priv.h Add poll_read and is_connected methods. mysql-test/t/named_pipe.test: Run tests over a named pipe connection. mysql-test/t/shm.test: Run tests over a shared memory connection. sql/item_func.cc: Rename method. sql/sql_class.cc: Remove higher-level vio_is_connected implementation. sql/sql_class.h: Rename vio_is_connected to not conflict with the vio one. Magne Mahre	a5ab2c30df	BUG #8368 "mysqldump needs --slave-data option" Added this option, named as "--dump-slave". The purpose of this option is to be able to produce a dump from a slave used for making backups of the master. Originally, dumping from the main master was fine, but as more data accumulated, the dump process would take over 30 minutes, locking up the master database hence website for 30 minutes. A slave dedicated to producing backups was the answer, but I needed a dump that could be used to restore a slave instantly and in order to do that, it has to have three things contained in the dump: 1. "STOP SLAVE;" at the beginning 2. "CHANGE MASTER TO ...<the master - info from 'show slave status'>" 3. "START SLAVE;" at the end These options in this changeset contain this. --stop-slave adds "STOP SLAVE" to the beginning of the dump and "STOP SLAVE" to the end of the dump. --include-host gives the user the option to have the host explicitely added to the "CHANGE MASTER TO ..." line. --dump-slave adds the "CHANGE MASTER ..." to the dump representing not the slave's master binlog info, but the slave's master's info from "SHOW SLAVE STATUS" client/client_priv.h: Added OPT_SLAVE_DATA to client_priv.h client/mysqldump.c: * Added --dump-slave option (name per Brian) * Added --stop-slave to print "STOP SLAVE;" into the dump * Added --include-host option to include "MASTER_HOST=..." and "MASTER_PORT=..." to the dump since unlike --master-data, the host can't be assumed to be the local host * Added do_start_slave and do_stop_slave to stop the slave sql thread upon start of the dump process, and to start the slave sql upon finish of dump process - to keep the log information frozen during this time. * Added do_show_slave_status for obtaining slave information needed to compose "CHANGE MASTER ..." output to the master of this slave. * Added necessary long options and defines required for new options	16 years ago

Adds new mysql client option "--auto-vertical-output", which causes the client to test whether a result table is too wide for the current window (where available) and emit vertical results in that case. Otherwise, it sends normal tabular results. client/client_priv.h: Add another enum value to client options, for automatic vertical output. client/mysql.cc: Add another command-line option, "auto-vertical-output". Add functions to get the terminal width and functions to get the widths of fields. Use them together to emit vertical output when some output table is too wide to fit in the terminal. If the terminal doesn't support reading its width, then assume 80-positions wide. mysql-test/r/mysql.result: Show that various select statements do work as expected. Wide tables become vertical and narrow ones do not. mysql-test/t/mysql.test: Show that various select statements do work as expected. These should be suitable for a wide range of window capabilities and sizes. Under extreme circumstances, the results could be arbitrary.	16 years ago

Vladislav Vaintroub	2377eed362	Bug #47423 mtr connects to wrong database The reason for the bug is that mysqtest as well as other client tools running in test suite (mysqlbinlog, mysqldump) will first try to connect whatever database has created shared memory with default base name "MySQL" and use this. (Same effect could be seen on Unix if mtr would not care to calculate "port" and "socket" parameter). The fix ensures that all client tools and running in mtr use unique per-database shared memory base parameters, so there is no possibility to clash with already installed one. We use socket name for shared memory base (it's known to be unique). This shared-memory-base is written to the MTR config file to the [client] and [mysqld] sections. Fix made also made sure all client tools understand and correctly handle --shared-memory-base. Prior to this patch it was not the case for mysqltest, mysqlbinlog and mysql_client_test. All new connections done from mtr scripts via connect() will by default set shared-memory-base. And finally, there is a possibility to force shared memory or pipe connection and overwrite shared memory/pipe base name from within mtr scripts via optional PIPE or SHM modifier. This functionality was manually backported from 6.0 (original patch http://lists.mysql.com/commits/74749)	16 years ago

As the first two steps only pertain to an existing query, Control-C will abort the client right away if no query is running. client will give more detailed/consistent feedback on Control-C now. client/mysql.cc: Extends Control-C handling; enhances up feedback to user. This bug is actually not a bug. At least according to Monty. See Bug#841 "wrong number of warnings" reported back in July 2003 and closed as "not a bug". mysql_info() was printing the number of truncated columns, not the number of warnings. But since the message of mysql_info() was "Warnings: <number of truncated columns>", people would expect to get the number of warnings in it, not the number of truncated columns. So a possible fix would be to change the message of mysql_info() to say Rows changed: <n>, truncated: <m>. Instead, put the number of warnings there. That is, remove the feature that thd->cuted_fields (the number of truncated fields) is exposed to the client. The number of truncated columns can be calculated on the client, by analyzing SHOW WARNINGS output, and in future we may remove thd->cuted_fields altogether. It's correct that TIMESTAMP does not have the flag nowadays (manual will be updated, connectors developers will be notified). client/mysqldump.c: IS_NUM_FIELD(f) removed and replaced by its definition (f>flags & NUM_FLAG). include/mysql.h: - IS_NUM_FIELD() is removed because name is too close to IS_NUM() and it is not used a lot - INTERNAL_NUM_FIELD() is removed: * it forgets to test NEWDECIMAL (when IS_NUM() was updated for NEWDECIMAL we forgot to update INTERNAL_NUM_FIELD()), that's why client didn't mark NEWDECIMAL with NUM_FLAG (a bug). * it has an obsolete test for length of the TIMESTAMP field: test became accidentally wrong when length of TIMESTAMP was changed to always be 19 (when the format was changed from YYYYMMDDhhmmss to YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss), never 8 or 14 anymore. However, there is no need to explicitely add ws2_32 to the list of TARGET_LINK_LIBRARIES multiple times. Visual Studio comes with a handy pragma that tells linker to add library. So patch replaces bunch of ws2_32 in CMakeLists with single pragma comment(lib,"ws2_32") in my_init.c Additionally, reference to non-existing "debug" library has been removed from TARGET_LINK_LIBRARIES. The change removes the necessity to recomplile the same source files twice - with USE_TLS for DLLs and without USE_TLS for EXEs. Real benefit of this change is better readability and maintainability of TLS functions within MySQL. There is a performance loss using TlsXXX functions compared to __declspec but the difference is negligible in practice. In a sysbench-like benchmark I ran with with TlsGetValue, pthread_[get\|set]_specific was called 600000000 times and took 0.17sec of total 35min CPU time, or 0.008%.	16 years ago

Joerg Bruehe	db89051656	Fix bug#46980 Option "--without-server" still not working in 5.1 The general approach is to make sure that source files which require thread support are only compiled if the build really needs thread support, which means when the server is built or a thread-safe client library. This required several changes: - Make sure the subdirectories "storage/" and "plugin/" are only processed if the server is built, not ifclient-only. - Make the compilation of some modules which inherently require threading depend on thread supportin the build. - Separate the handling of threading in "configure.in" from that of server issues, threading is also needed in a non-server build of a thread-safe client library. Also, "libdbug" must get built even in a client-only build, so "dbug/" must be in the list of client directories. In addition, calls to thread functions in source files which can be built without thread support must use the wrapper functions which handle the non-threaded build. So the modules "client/mysqlimport.c" and "client/mysqlslap.c" must call "my_thread_end()" only via "mysql_thread_end()". Makefile.am: The directories "storage/" and "plugin/" contain files which are needed for the server only, so their contents is to be built only if a server is built. They must not be named unconditionally, because building their contents will fail unless threads are enabled. These directories are now listed in the "configure" variable "sql_server_dirs" which becomes part of "sql_union_dirs" if the server is to be built. client/mysqlimport.c: Use the wrapper function "mysql_thread_end()" which correctly handles the case of a non-threaded build. client/mysqlslap.c: Use the wrapper function "mysql_thread_end()" which correctly handles the case of a non-threaded build. configure.in: Various changes to support builds "--without-server": 1) For the unit tests, we need "libdbug". 2) Separate the treatment of the server from that of the thread-safe client library. 3) Introduce an "automake conditional" "NEED_THREAD" which can be checked in some "Makefile.am". 4) Include "storage/" and "plugin/" in the list of "sql_server_dirs" so that they are handled in the top "Makefile.am" only if the server is to be built (see the change in that file). mysys/Makefile.am: The code of "mf_keycache.c" in 5.1 is no longer safe to be built without thread support. (In 5.0, this was possible.) Rather than fix these issues, which is tedious and risky, avoid the need to ever build it without thread support: It is needed in the server only, which needs thread support. The only case where we build a "libmysys" without thread support is for a non-threaded client, where "mf_keycache" is not neded. So its inclusion in the list of source files can depend on the new conditional "NEED_THREAD". unittest/mysys/Makefile.am: Test program "my_atomic-t" is to verify the correct handling of threads only, it cannot be built without thread support and is not needed in such cases either. The Windows HANDLE for the open file is stored in the my_file_info struct, along with a flag for append mode because the Windows API does not support opening files in append mode in all cases) The default max open files has been increased to 16384 and can be increased further by setting --max-open-files=<value> during the server start. Another major change in this patch that almost all Windows specific file IO code has been moved to a new file my_winfile.c, greatly reducing the amount of code in #ifdef blocks within mysys, thus improving readability. Minor enhancements: - my_(f)stat() is changed to use __stati64 structure with 64 file size and timestamps. It will return correct file size now (C runtime implementation used to report outdated information) - my_lock on Windows is prepared to handle additional timeout parameter - after review : changed __WIN__ to _WIN32 in the new and changed code. client/mysqlbinlog.cc: fileno -> my_fileno client/readline.cc: fileno -> my_fileno include/config-win.h: Increase OS_FILE_LIMIT for Windows. Remove O_SHARE - Windows does not support it. Satya B	2fc9c5d199	Fix for BUG#46591 - .frm file isn't sync'd with sync_frm enabled for CREATE TABLE...LIKE... The mysql server option 'sync_frm' is ignored when table is created with syntax CREATE TABLE .. LIKE.. Fixed by adding the MY_SYNC flag and calling my_sync() from my_copy() when the flag is set. In mysql_create_table(), when the 'sync_frm' is set, MY_SYNC flag is passed to my_copy(). Note: TestCase is not attached and can be tested manually using debugger. client/Makefile.am: BUG#46591 - .frm file isn't sync'd with sync_frm enabled for CREATE TABLE...LIKE... add my_sync to sources as it is used in my_copy() method include/my_sys.h: BUG#46591 - .frm file isn't sync'd with sync_frm enabled for CREATE TABLE...LIKE... We would then proceed to try again to connect without re- initializing the struct. We prevent the unwanted freeing of data we'll still need now. client/mysqladmin.cc: Losing a connection (or not even getting on in the first place) should not trash the MYSQL-struct. Add a lot of comments. Rewrite re-connection fu. sql-common/client.c: Assert against bad parameters usually caused by de-initing a MYSQL-struct without re-initing it again before re-use.	16 years ago
