Davi Arnaut	02ac873ccf	Bug#51650: crash with user variables and triggers The problem was that bits of the destructive equality propagation optimization weren't being undone after the execution of a stored program. Modifications to the parse tree that are based on transient properties must be undone to enable the re-execution of stored programs. For example, "WHERE a = CAST(0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF AS USIGNED) AND FOO(a)", where a is an UNSIGNED BIGINT, and FOO() accepts strings, was transformed to "... AND FOO('-1')". That has been fixed. Also EXPLAIN EXTENDED printed incorrect numeric constants in transformed WHERE expressions like above. Field::store() method returns error(true) if stored value is 0. The fix: added special case for enum type which correctly processes 0 value. Gleb Shchepa	994c0f8308	Bug #45640 : optimizer bug produces wrong results Grouping by a subquery in a query with a distinct aggregate function lead to a wrong result (wrong and unordered grouping values). There are two related problems: 1) The query like this: SELECT (SELECT t1.a) aa, COUNT(DISTINCT b) c FROM t1 GROUP BY aa returned wrong result, because the outer reference "t1.a" in the subquery was substituted with the Item_ref item. The Item_ref item obtains data from the result_field object that refreshes once after the end of each group. This data is not applicable to filesort since filesort() doesn't care about groups (and doesn't update result_field objects with copy_fields() and so on). Also that data is not applicable to group separation algorithm: end_send_group() checks every record with test_if_group_changed() that evaluates Item_ref items, but it refreshes those Item_ref-s only after the end of group, that is a vicious circle and the grouped column values in the output are shifted. Fix: if a) we grouping by a subquery and b) that subquery has outer references to FROM list of the grouping query, then we substitute these outer references with Item_direct_ref like references under aggregate functions: Item_direct_ref obtains data directly from the current record. 2) The query with a non-trivial grouping expression like: SELECT (SELECT t1.a) aa, COUNT(DISTINCT b) c FROM t1 GROUP BY aa+0 also returned wrong result, since JOIN::exec() substitutes references to top-level aliases in SELECT list with Item_copy caching items. Item_copy items have same refreshing policy as Item_ref items, so the whole groping expression with Item_copy inside returns wrong result in filesort() and end_send_group(). Georgi Kodinov	7a7147c5b4	Bug #46175 : NULL read_view and consistent read assertion The optimizer must not continue executing the current query if e.g. the storage engine reports an error. This is somewhat hard to implement with Item::val_xxx() because they do not have means to return error code. This is why we need to check the thread's error state after a call to one of the Item::val_xxx() methods. Fixed store_key_item::copy_inner() to return an error state if an error happened during the call to Item::save_in_field() because it calls Item::val_xxx(). Also added similar checks to related places.	16 years ago

Conversion of FLOAT/DOUBLE values to DECIMAL ones or strings and vice versa has been significantly reworked. As the new algoritms are more precise than the older ones, results of such conversions may not always match those obtained from older server versions. This in turn may break compatibility for some applications. Evgeny Potemkin	987e146604	Bug#33546: Slowdown on re-evaluation of constant expressions. Constant expressions in WHERE/HAVING/ON clauses aren't cached and evaluated for each row. This causes slowdown of query execution especially if constant UDF/SP function are used. Now WHERE/HAVING/ON expressions are analyzed in the top-bottom direction with help of the compile function. When analyzer meets a constant item it sets a flag for the tree transformer to cache the item and doesn't allow tree walker to go deeper. Thus, the topmost item of a constant expression if cached. This is done after all other optimizations were applied to WHERE/HAVING/ON expressions A helper function called cache_const_exprs is added to the JOIN class. It calls compile method with caching analyzer and transformer on WHERE, HAVING, ON expressions if they're present. The cache_const_expr_analyzer and cache_const_expr_transformer functions are added to the Item class. The first one check if the item can be cached and the second caches it if so. A new Item_cache_datetime class is derived from the Item_cache class. It caches both int and string values of the underlying item independently to avoid DATETIME aware int-to-string conversion. Alexey Kopytov	a4bcf99f38	Backport of the fix for bug #33969 : Updating a text field via a left join When creating a temporary TEXT/BLOB field from an Item in Item::make_string_field(), the field's type was unconditionally set to the one corresponding to the maximum length (i.e. LONGTEXT/ LONGBLOB). This resulted in problems when exactly the same TEXT/BLOB is type required in cases like CREATE ... SELECT or creating internal temporary tables for joins. Fixed by calling a different constructor for Field_blob so that an appropriate type is used depending on the Item's max_length value.	16 years ago

Added additional tests that demonstrate a incomplete fix. Added a new factory method for Field_new_decimal to create a field from an (decimal returning) Item. In the new method made sure that all the precision and length variables are capped in a proper way. This is required because Item's can have larger precision than the decimal fields and thus need to be capped when creating a field based on an Item type. MIN/MAX and comparison functions was comparing them as int values thus producing wrong result. Now the Arg_comparator class is extended with compare_year function which performs correct comparison of the YEAR type. The Item_sum_hybrid class now uses Item_cache and Arg_comparator objects to correctly calculate its value. To allow Arg_comparator to use func_name() function for Item_func and Item_sum objects the func_name declaration is moved to the Item_result_field class. A helper function is_owner_equal_func is added to the Arg_comparator class. It checks whether the Arg_comparator object owner is the <=> function or not. A helper function setup is added to the Item_sum_hybrid class. This conversion is done for each comparison and takes some time. When a constant is being compared it's possible to cache the value after conversion to speedup comparison. In some cases (large dataset, complex WHERE condition with many type conversions) query might be executed 7% faster. A test case isn't provided because all changes are internal and isn't visible outside. The behavior of the Item_cache is changed to cache values on the first request of cached value rather than at the moment of storing item to be cached. A flag named value_cached is added to the Item_cache class. It's set to TRUE when cache holds the value of the last stored item. Function named cache_value() is added to the Item_cache class and derived classes. This function actually caches the value of the saved item. Item_cache_xxx::store functions now only store item to be cached and set value_cached flag to FALSE. Item_cache_xxx::val_xxx functions are changed to call cache_value function prior to returning cached value if value_cached is FALSE. The Arg_comparator::set_cmp_func function now calls cache_converted_constant to cache constants if they need a type conversion. This patch implements: WL#4264 "Backup: Stabilize Service Interface" -- all the server prerequisites except si_objects.{h,cc} themselves (they can be just copied over, when needed). WL#4435: Support OUT-parameters in prepared statements. (and all issues in the initial patches for these two tasks, that were discovered in pushbuild and during testing). Bug#39519: mysql_stmt_close() should flush all data associated with the statement. After execution of a prepared statement, send OUT parameters of the invoked stored procedure, if any, to the client. When using the binary protocol, send the parameters in an additional result set over the wire. When using the text protocol, assign out parameters to the user variables from the CALL(@var1, @var2, ...) specification. The following refactoring has been made: - Protocol::send_fields() was renamed to Protocol::send_result_set_metadata(); - A new Protocol::send_result_set_row() was introduced to incapsulate common functionality for sending row data. - Signature of Protocol::prepare_for_send() was changed: this operation does not need a list of items, the number of items is fully sufficient. The following backward incompatible changes have been made: - CLIENT_MULTI_RESULTS is now enabled by default in the client; - CLIENT_PS_MULTI_RESUTLS is now enabled by default in the client. include/mysql.h: Add a new flag to MYSQL_METHODS::flush_use_result function pointer. This flag determines if all results should be flushed or only the first one: - if flush_all_results is TRUE, then cli_flush_use_result() will read/flush all pending results. I.e. it will read all packets while server status attribute indicates that there are more results. More correct description would be 'assertion on multi-table UPDATE + NATURAL JOIN + MERGEABLE VIEW'. On PREPARE stage(see test case) we call mark_common_columns() func which creates ON condition for NATURAL JOIN and sets appropriate table read_set bitmaps for fields which are used in ON condition. On EXECUTE stage mark_common_columns() is not called, we set necessary read_set bitmaps in setup_conds(). But 'B.f1' field is already processed and related item alredy fixed before setup_conds() as updated field and setup_conds can not set read_set bitmap because of that. A new macro UNINIT_VAR() is introduced for use in the variable declaration, and LINT_INIT() usage will be gradually deprecated. (A workaround is used for g++, pending a patch for a g++ bug.) GCC warnings for unused results (attribute warn_unused_result) for a number of system calls (present at least in later Ubuntus, where the usual void cast trick doesn't work) are also fixed. client/mysqlmanager-pwgen.c: A fix for warn_unused_result, adding fallback to use of srand()/rand() if /dev/random cannot be used. Also actually adds calls to rand() in the second branch so that it actually creates a random password.	16 years ago

Davi Arnaut	fc39459504	Bug#45261: Crash, stored procedure + decimal The problem was that creating a DECIMAL column from a decimal value could lead to a failed assertion as decimal values can have a higher precision than those attached to a table. The assert could be triggered by creating a table from a decimal with a large (> 30) scale. Also, there was a problem in calculating the number of digits in the integral and fractional parts if both exceeded the maximum number of digits permitted by the new decimal type. The solution is to ensure that truncation procedure is executed when deducing a DECIMAL column from a decimal value of higher precision. If the integer part is equal to or bigger than the maximum precision for the DECIMAL type (65), the integer part is truncated to fit and the fractional becomes zero. Otherwise, the fractional part is truncated to fit into the space left after the integer part is copied. This patch borrows code and ideas from Martin Hansson's patch. mysql-test/r/type_newdecimal.result: Add test case result for Bug#45261. Also, update test case to reflect that an additive operation increases the precision of the resulting type by 1. mysql-test/t/type_newdecimal.test: Add test case for Bug#45261 sql/field.cc: Added DBUG_ASSERT to ensure object's invariant is maintained. Implement method to create a field to hold a decimal value from an item. sql/field.h: Explain member variable. Add method to create a new decimal field. sql/item.cc: The precision should only be capped when storing the value on a table. Also, this makes it impossible to calculate the integer part if Item::decimals (the scale) is larger than the precision. sql/item.h: Simplify calculation of integer part. sql/item_cmpfunc.cc: Do not limit the precision. It will be capped later. sql/item_func.cc: Use new method for allocating a new decimal field. Add a specialized method for retrieving the precision of a user variable item. sql/item_func.h: Add method to return the precision of a user variable. sql/item_sum.cc: Use new method for allocating a new decimal field. sql/my_decimal.h: The integer part could be improperly calculated for a decimal with 31 digits in the fractional part. sql/sql_select.cc: Use new method which truncates the integer or decimal parts as needed.	16 years ago

Alexey Kopytov	096c12b2c4	Bug #45262 : Bad effects with CREATE TABLE and DECIMAL Using DECIMAL constants with more than 65 digits in CREATE TABLE ... SELECT led to bogus errors in release builds or assertion failures in debug builds. The problem was in inconsistency in how DECIMAL constants and fields are handled internally. We allow arbitrarily long DECIMAL constants, whereas DECIMAL(M,D) columns are limited to M<=65 and D<=30. my_decimal_precision_to_length() was used in both Item and Field code and truncated precision to DECIMAL_MAX_PRECISION when calculating value length without adjusting precision and decimals. As a result, a DECIMAL constant with more than 65 digits ended up having length less than precision or decimals which led to assertion failures. Fixed by modifying my_decimal_precision_to_length() so that precision is truncated to DECIMAL_MAX_PRECISION only for Field object which is indicated by the new 'truncate' parameter. Another inconsistency fixed by this patch is how DECIMAL constants and expressions are handled for CREATE ... SELECT. create_tmp_field_from_item() (which is used for constants) was changed as a part of the bugfix for bug #24907 to handle long DECIMAL constants gracefully. Item_func::tmp_table_field() (which is used for expressions) on the other hand was still using a simplistic approach when creating a Field_new_decimal from a DECIMAL expression. mysql-test/r/type_newdecimal.result: Added a test case for bug #45262. mysql-test/t/type_newdecimal.test: Added a test case for bug #45262. sql/item.cc: Use the new 'truncate' parameter in my_decimal_precision_to_length(). sql/item_cmpfunc.cc: Use the new 'truncate' parameter in my_decimal_precision_to_length(). sql/item_func.cc: 1. Fixed an incosistency in how DECIMAL constants and expressions are handled for CREATE ... SELECT. sql/item_func.h: Use the new 'truncate' parameter in my_decimal_precision_to_length(). sql/item_sum.cc: Use the new 'truncate' parameter in my_decimal_precision_to_length(). sql/my_decimal.h: Do not truncate precision to DECIMAL_MAX_PRECISION when calculating length in my_decimal_precision_to_length() if 'truncate' parameter is FALSE. sql/sql_select.cc: 1. Georgi Kodinov	ae8950f1e8	Bug #45807 : crash accessing partitioned table and sql_mode contains ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY The partitioning code needs to issue a Item::fix_fields() on the partitioning expression in order to prepare it for being evaluated. It does this by creating a special table and a table list for the scope of the partitioning expression. But when checking ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY the Item_field::fix_fields() was relying that there always be cached_table set and was trying to use it to get the select_lex of the SELECT the field's table is in. But the cached_table was not set by the partitioning code that creates the artificial TABLE_LIST used to resolve the partitioning expression and this resulted in a crash. Fixed by rectifying the following errors : 1. Item_field::fix_fields() : the code that check for ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY relies on having tables with cacheable_table set. This is mostly true, the only two exceptions being the partitioning context table and the trigger context table. Fixed by taking the current parsing context if no pointer to the TABLE_LIST instance is present in the cached_table. 2. fix_fields_part_func() : 2a. The code that adds the table being created to the scope for the partitioning expression is mostly a copy of the add_table_to_list and friends with one exception : it was not marking the table as cacheable (something that normal add_table_to_list is doing). This caused the problem in the check for ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY in Item_field::fix_fields() to appear. Fixed by setting the correct members to make the table cacheable. The ideal structural fix for this is to use a unified interface for adding a table to a table list (add_table_to_list?) : noted in a TODO comment 2b. The Item::fix_fields() was called with a NULL destination pointer. This causes uninitalized memory reads in the overloaded ::fix_fields() function (namely Item_field::fix_fields()) as it expects a non-zero pointer there. Georgi Kodinov	7348140465	Bug #44399 : crash with statement using TEXT columns, aggregates, GROUP BY, and HAVING When calculating GROUP BY the server caches some expressions. It does that by allocating a string slot (Item_copy_string) and assigning the value of the expression to it. This effectively means that the result type of the expression can be changed from whatever it was to a string. As this substitution takes place after the compile-time result type calculation for IN but before the run-time type calculations, it causes the type calculations in the IN function done at run time to get unexpected results different from what was prepared at compile time. In the CASE ... WHEN ...
