Jeffrey Yasskin	7937d939b1	Fix nearly all compilation warnings under Apple gcc-4.0. Tested with OPT="-g -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -Werror" in both --with-pydebug mode and --without. There's still a batch of non-prototype warnings in Xlib.h that I don't know how to fix.	17 years ago

The most obvious changes: - str8 renamed to bytes (PyString at the C level); - bytes renamed to buffer (PyBytes at the C level); - PyString and PyUnicode are no longer compatible. I.e. we now have an immutable bytes type and a mutable bytes type. The behavior of PyString was modified quite a bit, to make it more bytes-like. Guido van Rossum	d6ca546091	Make test_zipfile pass. The zipfile module now does all I/O in binary mode using bytes. (Maybe we should support wrapping a TextIOWrapper around it when text mode reading is requested?) Even the password is a bytes array now. Had to fix py_compile.py to use bytes while I was at it. The _struct needed a patch to support bytes, str8 and str for the 's' and 'p' formats.	19 years ago
