Inherits test_gzip/test_tarfile failures on 64-bit platforms from the trunk, but I don't want the merge to hang around too long (even though the regular p3yk-contributors are/have been busy with other things.) This is a depressingly frequent problem, and deserves a more general fix. I'm settling for a micro-fix here because this specific one accounts for a report of Zope Corp's ZEO hanging on Windows, and it was an odd way to change abspath to begin with (ntpath needs a different implementation depending on whether we're actually running on Windows, and the _obvious_ way to arrange for that is not to bury a possibly-failing import _inside_ the function). I fixed two minor things in test_winreg.py ("didn't" -> "Didn't" and "Didnt" -> "Didn't"). There is a minor style issue involved: Guido seems to have preferred English grammar (behaviour, honour) in a couple places. This patch changes that to American, which is the more prominent style in the source. I prefer English myself, so if English is preferred, I'd be happy to supply a patch myself ;)	26 years ago

When completing a simple identifier, it completes keywords, built-ins and globals in __main__; when completing NAME.NAME..., it evaluates (!) the expression up to the last dot and completes its attributes. It's very cool to do "import string" type "string.", hit the completion key (twice), and see the list of names defined by the string module! Tip: to use the tab key as the completion key, call readline.parse_and_bind("tab: complete")	29 years ago
